Marcel Breuer was a Hungarian-born modernist, architect and furniture designer. A master of Modernism, Breuer was one of the world’s most popular architects at the peak of 20th-Century design. Breuer moved to London in the 1930s at Gropius’ suggestion and, working with Jack Pritchard, he created the Long Chair when he began experimenting with plywood instead of tubular steel.  Breuer was also responsible for designing the Short Chair and the Isokon Dining Table.
